Founded in 1911, the Austin Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is Austin’s oldest performing arts group. The ASO offers a complete season of musical and educational programming for all ages. Classical concerts include a Masterworks series of eight concert pairs running monthly September through May at the Long Center. Additionally the Symphony offers a Chamber Music series called “ASO About Town.” The ASO’s season also features the Sarah & Ernest Butler Pops Series, featuring popular films on the big screen with live orchestral accompaniment as well as tribute concerts. Programming for the entire family includes the Halloween Children’s Concert, Handel’s Messiah, as well as educational events such as Tuneful Tales, Building Blocks, Young People’s Concerts, High School Concerts and other school programs.
