WSL Announces 2019 Royal Court & Celebrity Guest Speaker Brooke Shields
AUSTIN, Texas – After a long summer, the Women’s Symphony League of Austin (WSL) is putting the final touches on this year’s Jewel Ball festivities. A culmination of a year’s worth of planning and coordination, the 65th Anniversary Jewel Ball, The Sound of Music, promises to be a showstopper next month at Palmer Events Center.
Festivities begin on September 2nd with Soirée Dansante, a semi-formal fundraiser for teens across the city, followed by the WSL Fashion Luncheon on Friday, September 20th.
The star of this year’s luncheon is celebrity guest speaker Brooke Shields, an American fashion icon best known for her ground-breaking ad campaign for Calvin Klein in the 1980’s. Honorary Chair for the luncheon is Suzon Spiller Kemp, whom the League recognizes for her fifty-four years of dedicated service to the Women’s Symphony League of Austin. Chaired by WSL members Lisa Barton and Kerri Ann Chambless, this year’s luncheon takes place at Palmer Events Center.
Crown jewel of the weekend, the Jewel Ball takes center stage on the evening of Saturday, September 21st. A black-tie affair, celebrating music and the Royal Court, this year’s gala will feature a silent auction, restaurant “grub grab,” casino, photo booth, and a dessert food truck serving hot doughnuts. Award-winning party band, The Memphis Train Revue, will play into the night for the ultimate dance party.
“Christy and I are thrilled to be able to co-chair the 65th Anniversary Jewel Ball, a family-friendly event that celebrates the arts and honors young people from Austin and throughout the state. We are so proud that through our committee’s efforts, the hills of Austin will be alive with the sound of music from the Austin Symphony Orchestra for many years to come!” said Jewel Ball Co-chair, Christy Merritt.
The Royal Court consists of a Diamond Queen and several Princesses from Austin, honoring the support of local families to the Austin Symphony Orchestra. The WSL also invites outstanding, college-aged young women from across the state to represent their communities as members of the Visiting Jewel Court.
The 2019 Royal Court includes the following outstanding young women:
Diamond Queen of the 2019 Royal Court, Queen Emma Carolina Tiblier, daughter of Board Member and Knight Eric Tiblier & Ms. Susanne Tetzlaff; Princess Anastasia Christine Bauereis, daughter of Knight & Mrs. Eric Bauereis; Princess Abigail Denise Downing, daughter of Knight & Mrs. Bryant Downing; Princess Tucker Abigail Garrison, daughter of Knight & Mrs. Dan Garrison; Princess Suzanne Conley Huff, daughter of Knight & Mrs. Claymon A. Cipione; Princess Julia Elizabeth McCann-Pewitt, daughter of Mr. Bill Pewitt & Ms. Shannon McCann; and Princess Josie Hollis Turlington, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Todd Turlington.
“It’s a real honor to represent the Women’s Symphony League of Austin this year. The Jewel Ball is 65 years old and continues to be the premiere philanthropic event in Austin. This year’s gala maintains all the glorious traditions of the prior 64 years, but with wonderful fun and new additions that will make it the most memorable fundraiser of 2019!” said WSL President Karey Nalle Oddo.
